The wedding at Håholmen Havstuer

Most of the wedding guests on our side of the family arrived at Thursday. Since we have a big empty house waiting for a buyer we had arranged for the young ones to stay there and that`s where we served food for everyone Thursday evening. For the groom and his best man this was the one and only chance to burn the midnight oil – and they did. I know for sure that Jo, the best man, was the last one in bed around 6 in the morning. But he is a sport and was fast on his feet on Friday helping with the transport of gifts and cakes to Håholmen Havstuer…

They worked hard before dinner Friday and they left early to stay at my place that last night. Still wondering why the groom felt the need for chocolate spread for breakfast but I guess the man has the right to ask for what ever he want on the morning of his marriage:)

What ever need he had when he woke up this morning – he looked like a happy man when he watched his bride walk up the floor…

She was late to church but I doubt he even considered the possibility that she could have changed her mind…

We did worry about the flower-girls and boys. One was sitting close to his grandma looking worried and one was holding on to his mum and had no intentions to let go. One was stressed and was too playful. We did manage to get them outside to the bride`s mother and was holding still while waiting for the first cry:)

They were like angels…

…and even holding hands when they came in. The box of sweets waiting on their seats might have had something to do with it:) Clever lady, Heidi – the bride`s mother.

This was a wedding with a lot of things not going as planned. First the church double booked two weddings. They did not get the priest they wanted and then their next choice went on vacation. In the end they had to accept a priest they never met before. That was a lucky draw. She was wonderful and we all loved her ceremony and I know for a fact that a lot of the male guests loved that she let it slip that she was 30 and single:)

The first kiss as husband and wife…

The mother of the bride surprised us all with a very special gift from the family to the couple – a song…

She sang like an angel and we all had tears in our eyes. It was a beautiful song and she is a beautiful girl. Surprises often leads to confusions – the couple thanked each other and had no idea it was a gift from the bride`s family:)

There was more surprises to come. The bride had one dream – to have a horse-ride from church. She talked about it. We talked about it. But the groom made it happen…

Kings and Queens have been sitting in that carriage and lucky for the groom this was the first day in a long time with no rain.

Dreams do come true…

Now – about that rain…there was a story told about someone – asking someone to pay a visit to a sacrificial place in order to ask someone to hold back on the rain for a day or two. I wouldn`t believe that if I were you – even if I do.

While the first guests arrived at Håholmen Havstuer the happy couple and their photographer in tow went photo shooting…in the freezing cold weather…

…and we missed the boat with a few minutes and had to wait outside for 45 min strangely I was the only one who got the cold:)

Love is what love does…the couple`s wedding theme. Now – if I was the groom I would have paid attention the fact that the bride is wearing boots and she takes the lead…

The young man always talk about balance in a relationship. He is a talker. I`m looking forward to see how he handles to walk behind his wife:)

The bride was late for church. That was okay. Being late for dinner on the other hand was not okay. Of course we can understand the difficulties doing what we have to do with that dress on:)

Now – about those boots…when the chef at Håholmen announced the menu she had the guts to speak up and tell him that he had the wrong dessert on. Can you imagine how it feels – to be a chef on the smallest island a Saturday evening, being ready to serve 80 portions of dessert. The wrong dessert. He did not blink with an eye – of course we would be served the right dessert. We were served the right dessert – and that involved a trip to the mainland for shopping.

He spoke beautiful words to his bride and brought tears in our eyes…

…and I know the bride was happy about her father`s word. Giving away his first daughter can be a challenge…

They all spoke beautifully and they all added to the moment…

Also the young ones had something to contribute with…

Then there were cake and a little dancing and I know that someone had very little sleep. Still they were up for breakfast – welcoming a Sunday with blue sky and sun…

Still so many photos to process. This is my way of familiar my self with the photos – like a step one before making the album from the wedding.

It was a magical wedding and there are so many people to thank for making this so special. I will save that for another day.
