Parts of me wants to be back on the beach but being home is okay too. Cooler nights and less food 🙂 Being home and still on vacation is even better. Lots to do. Unpacking and getting organized – not so fun. While the machine took care of the washing I started on my next project…
You got to love my entrance:) It is so awful and I always wonder why my landlord love it…
Can it be the missing wallpaper he finds fascinating?
The first layer of the vinyl wallpaper was easy to remove. The rest not so much…
Always exiting to see if there is more than one layer of wallpaper and often there is…
I finally got everything removed and bagged up for the trash and it was time to dig into the floor. I grabbed a corner and half of the floor came off. The only thing left was the glue…
Stone and a lot of glue. I did not expect this and I was not a happy camper as I worked to remove the vinyl tiles from 1947…
Going to bed that evening I realized that restoring this will require a professional. I need to figure out who I need to work on to get the financing:)
Crawling on the knees after spending to weeks on the beach was not a good idea and I woke up pretty stiff Tuesday morning. The wooden floors must be sanded and I sure this will create a lot of dust and the rooms need to be empty. Carrying everything upstairs was a good move for my body:)
And since I am sure this project will take time I set up a temporary storage that will work for a long time:)
Good thing I don`t have so much stuff…
After doing this I felt much better but still reluctant to move on to the floor in the hallway. A little worried after the unhappy meeting with the vinyl tiles the day before I decided to wait for a new morning.
I cleared the hallway and made a “small cut” in a corner…
…and was very happy to discover the same flooring as in the bedrooms…
All the green stuff gone in a few minutes and all I had to fight with was the hairy stuff and the nails…
Almost consider myself a pro now:) – if there is no vinyl tiles underneath…
Things change because I am sure the women in the 60`s was thankful for the vinyl but what can be more beautiful than a wooden floor. At least it will be beautiful after being sanded…
A satisfied girl went to sleep last night after cleaning the floor and admiring her own handiwork.
Today was another day filled with doubt. I decided to take on the kitchen floor but there is always something…
I know I can pull out the stove but I also know that I can`t budge the fridge and they both have to be moved in order to remove the flooring.
If I don`t remove the floor I think it will walk away on it`s own…
The old kitchen is cute but it`s nothing cute about it when you take a closer look…
Maybe I could make dinner while waiting for another great idea…
I can’t believe how much you have tackled and also that you did most of I in a day! The wooden floors are going to be lovely.. Admiring you for tackling the kitchen as it looks like such a job …
I admire your determination and energy in making these changes. I am tackling the removal of vinyl wallpaper in my kitchen – think I will rent a steamer to help with the job and vow never to wallpaper again. Looking forward to seeing the wood floors after sanding …
