He got an education as a carpenter in 1947/1948. Late 1948 he was drafted to “Tysklandsbrigaden” – the occupying power that would maintain order in Germany after the war. Two months cookery courses before he was shipped out to Schleswig – Holstein in January 1949. Four months later he was dismissed and shipped home – sick. He was hospitalized and then a long period of rehabilitation…
